Is this Murdoch with Captain Smith on the Adriatic?

  • Possible photograph of Murdoch (centre) aboard the Adriatic with Captain Smith. (Click image to enlarge)

Do you think the above photograph of Captain Smith on the Adriatic, c. 1908/1909, also includes Wiliam Murdoch, second on the left from Smith, looking down at some paper/book? Please use the contact form if you think you can correctly identify the officer.

The image was included in Malcolm Bowen Niedner Jr.'s article on Encyclopedia Titanica entitled "Titanic at 100: A Personal Journey" (link).

Below is a comparison with the last recorded image of Murdoch on Titanic. A side profile reveals similarities in hair cut and facial structure that indicates this could well be Murdoch.
